Mouth Watering!
I was ten years old when my parents bought a rich chocolate birthday cake for me. So even before I knew how to pronounce the word `chocolate', it already became my favourite food. All I have to do is take a look at the dark brown color of chocolate and I begin to salivate uncontrollably. My love for chocolate is so deep that I even bought some books on it for more information. Here are some of the things I learnt.
Cacao beans were first used by the Native Americans in America to trade. Chocolate is made from cacao beans ground into powder. The cacao beans themselves are from the cacao plant which grows in tropical countries. The first chocolates made were rough and bitter. However, they discovered that by adding milk, chocolate tastes smoother and sweeter. This is why milk chocolate is so popular these days.
Today, there is such a variety of chocolates on the supermarket shelves to choose from that I am spoilt for choice. While I consider myself to be a firm and decisive person, I sometimes return from a shopping trip with several bars and boxes of different chocolate - bitter dark chocolate, milk chocolate with fruit and nuts and white chocolate. This is because I cannot decide which type of chocolate to buy, so I end up buying anything I can get my hands on.
I love chocolates because I love how they melt in my mouth. The smooth texture has a heavenly feel to it and its aromatic smell is simply divine . It is hard to believe but having a bar of chocolate every day is like having a daily cup of coffee for others.
